Sessions and Presentations

Each day of the symposium will host different thematic sessions. Session titles may vary depending on the number of submissions and the content of accepted papers. The program will also include keynote talks, film/video screenings, and special events. Session moderators are appointed annually by the Executive Committee and may vary between sessions.

Each presentation is allocated 15 minutes for delivery and 5 minutes for Q&A. This duration may be revised by the Executive Committee based on the number of participants and session density.

There are no restrictions on presentation formats. Presentations may be delivered orally, in writing, or through video, using materials of the presenter’s choice. The language of the presentation should correspond with the language of the application, and may be Turkish or English. Presenters are expected to adhere to the session schedule and deliver their presentations in person.

Participation Requirements

The symposium is open to academics, artists, independent researchers, and students (undergraduate or graduate) working in the aforementioned fields.

Participation fees and detailed information are announced on apartsempozyum.com, the official website of the symposium.

Applications will be received through the online application system on the official website.

Evaluation and Publication Process

Abstracts will be evaluated by at least three reviewers through a blind peer review process. The evaluation process includes the following stages:

  • Abstracts that meet the publication and formatting guidelines are submitted to three field experts for scientific evaluation without disclosing the author's identity.
  • Reviewers are not informed of the author’s identity, and authors are not informed of the reviewers’ identities.
  • Reviewers are given 15 days for evaluation. If this period is exceeded, an additional 7 days are granted. If there is no response, a new reviewer is appointed. Thus, the review process may occasionally exceed one month. The assignment process, initiated after the editor’s preliminary review, generally takes about 7 days.
  • If at least two reviewers indicate that “the abstract is not suitable for publication,” the submission is rejected.
  • If at least two reviewers approve the abstract as “suitable for publication,” the submission is accepted.
  • If at least two reviewers indicate that “revisions are required,” the author is expected to revise the abstract or provide a justified explanation if revisions are not made.
  • Authors are responsible for submitting the revised version within the specified timeframe. If necessary, the revised version may be sent back to the original reviewers. Journal editors may make minor editorial changes that do not affect content.
  • All review reports and correspondence regarding submissions are archived within the Sempozium automation system.
  • All relevant notifications and evaluation results are shared with the applicants.

Abstract writing and submission rules are carried out according to the rules published on the official website of the symposium.

Full Paper Submission and Journal Publication

Full papers of participants who present at the symposium and submit their manuscripts within the specified timeframe will be subjected to the same blind peer review process. If approved, these papers will be published in a special issue of ART/icle: Journal of Art & Design.

The articles should be prepared in accordance with the journal's academic writing principles.
