Call for Abstract

As apart Art Association, we are delighted to invite you to the 3rd International Short Film, Video and Photography Symposium, which will be held at Kadıköy Barış Manço Cultural Center on October 24-25-26, 2025 with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, General Directorate of Cinema and Istanbul Gelisim University.

The interest of academics, artists and art lovers in more 'alternative' forms of thought production, with short film, video and photography at the center, is growing exponentially every year. These forms of production are rare spaces where the standardizing conditions of industry are less evident, can offer significant opportunities for speculative and even provocative creation, and where pure perception is possible.

The main motivation for our desire to organize the International Short Film, Video and Photography Symposium once again starts right here. We stand against concepts such as authority, scientific authority, hierarchy, and in fact all kinds of power relations that manifest themselves in almost every aspect of life and hinder basic creative attitudes such as thinking, inspiration and production. This stance leads us to produce and share liberating, creative and unifying ideas, interpretations and criticisms. We welcome everyone who responds to this call intellectually and emotionally to the symposium.

As emphasized in the paragraphs above, our symposium aims to produce thoughts, comments and criticism through short films, videos and photographs. Apart from these fields, the other titles determined as the subject of our symposium are as follows:

The language of the symposium is Turkish and English. The deadline for abstract or video essay submission is July 31, 2025. Abstracts will be published in the abstracts e-book after the symposium and video essays will be published on the symposium's YouTube channel. The submitted and peer-reviewed full texts will be published as an e-journal.
